Dave and H - Smooth Sailing

Harold is an official Bonnie Lassie Crew member. He's always ready to sail at the drop of a hat. Note the official team hat!And Joyce likes the view from the shore. Those chairs can be a little rocky though!

Time to Head Back In!

Yeah, I'm pretty sure we could do this with a few more lessons.

Sailing with the Buddies

What a great way to spend a Monday evening and the wind was made to order! We're looking forward to next year! (followed by take-out and some refreshments, of course)

The Bonnie Lassie

Welcome to our blog! As you can see our little boat is a lovely little Wayfarer called the Bonnie Lassie. I remember the day that we found the ad in the Toronto Star very clearly. Dave and I were sitting in our back yard having a coffee one summery Saturday morning. And we had been looking far and wide for a boat that would be a little bigger than the Hobie Holder that we had been enjoying for a couple of summers. But it was just a little too small. And it was pretty muddy and slippery trying to put in off the beach. And, of course, it would be so nice to just leave a boat in the water instead of hauling it down to the water, assembling it and hoping to get away from the shore before we got blown back into the weeds. So we were on the prowl. One day we drove for about four hours to look at a boat that was a really sad site to see. It had 'lengthy home project' written all over it when we were looking for 'hoist the sail and go'! We headed home with dashed hopes! So that Saturday morning over coffee, I announced to the First Mate, that I was going to find him a boat that day. And I proceeded to open the newspaper to the Used Boats section of the classified and there it was! An older Wayfarer in excellent condition for an excellent price! I almost lost my coffee as Dave lunged at the paper and sprinted inside to the phone. And the next day, we carefully took the scenic route home from Toronto with Cheshire grins on our faces and the Bonnie Lassie in tow.
